James Webb Telescope and Hubble Space Telescope:
The James Webb Telescope is set to launch on December 18th, 2021 at 7:20 a.m..
It has been delayed over 6 times, from 2002, to October, 2021. You can replay it and still watch it on the NASA app, and website, and YouTube. It will be better quality than the Hubble Space Telescope. Hopefully not as many issues. It won’t last as long, but will be able to see so much farther, maybe even into new galaxies! Hubble is still amazing and recently (November 24th, morning) found gasses swarming with man nebula. What I’m saying is The Hubble Space Telescope is still awesome, but James Webb will be able to see lots farther. But its estimated time to go is only 10 years. Hubble has lasted for 31 years, but probably lots longer, and maybe many more years. Hubble has had two major issues, mirror issues in the year after it was launched, (1991), which was fixed with a new lens, and the most recent one in 2021, (current year), where they needed to switch to back up hardware. Webb has been delayed about 3 times in the past 5 days, now launch to be December 25th, 2021. (Tomorrow). JWST has launched at 7:20 am ET December 25th, 2021!
Ask a Middle Schooler:
I asked my friend Miah, who is an 8th grader. Please leave questions, and I will switch which middle schoolers I ask every week! Here we go… My question is: “ What is it like being in the last year of middle school?” Miah said “ It's almost like you’re just waiting. There is not a lot going on around you, especially if you don’t have friends in your class. So it feels like you are just waiting for highschool.” I also asked her if she would rate her classes from Hard, Medium, and Easy, this is just an opinion.
Social Studies: “Hard”
Math: “Medium”
ELA ( English Language Arts) : “Medium”
Science: “Medium”
Finally, I asked if she had any advice for people going into middle school ( 6th grade ), and coming out ( 8th grade). For 6th grade: “They try to push more of the rules on you in 6th grade.” Miah says. “ They are a lot harder on you in 6th (sixth) grade than any other grade.”
For 8th grade: Miah said: “Do your work.” “They will let you do anything, chew gum, talk in class, as long as you do your work.”
Bullying and Cyberbullying:
Bullying:
Bullying is being mean/rude to people for no said reason.
Bullying is wrong because you can hurt someone physically, and emotionally. How would you like to be hurt and punched and bossed around? I’m sure you would NOT enjoy it, I know I wouldn't.
CyberBullying:
CyberBullying is bullying someone over the internet.
CyberBullying is wrong because it is hurting someone's confidence, and feelings. If someone typed to you that you were mean and they hated you, you wouldn’t like it would you?
That's why you have to be kind to people! And get a teacher, parent, or adult that you know involved and tell them. If you see bullying, or are being bullied, try to stop it without getting yourself hurt!
Ask a 5th Grader:
I asked my friend Karli, who is in my 5th grade class, I asked her… “ What is it like to leave elementary school? Describe your feelings.” She said: “ It's a little scary that we are going into a whole new school. My brother who is in 6th grade says that it is pretty hard. You have to find your classes by yourself.”
I also asked: “ What’s it like being in 5th grade? (opinion): Karli said: “I thought it was gonna be hard, but it actually isn’t. Some subjects are hard for me, others aren’t. Sometimes the teachers are nice, and sometimes they are not.”
Finally, I asked “What advice do you have for anyone coming into elementary school, or next year going into 5th grade?”. Karli said: “ Just do your best and don’t stress about your grades or going into a different grade because the teachers will help you through the way.”
I am also in 5th grade, and if I were to answer the second question I would say…: “ Sometimes the teachers are nice, sometimes they aren’t. Sometimes the classes are difficult, sometimes they are easy. It just depends on how you learn, and feel about emotions and feelings.” For the third question, I’d say…: “Be yourself, and try your best, that's all anyone can ask of you, and if they ask for more, don’t listen.”
