Different Branches of Military:
Army: “an organized military force equipped for fighting on land.”
Marines: “a member of a body of troops trained to serve on land or at sea, in particular a member of the US Marine Corps.”
Navy: “the branch of a nation's armed services that conducts military operations at sea.”
Air Force: “the branch of a nation's armed services that conducts military operations in the air.”
Coast Guard: “a branch of the US armed forces, under the Department of Transportation since 1967, responsible for the enforcement of maritime law and for the protection of life and property at sea. In time of war, or at the direction of the president, the Coast Guard serves as part of the US Navy.”
Thank you to our U.S. military and veterans, we love you! <3.
Gas:
As I’m sure most of you know, most of our gas and oil comes from Russia, again, as I’m sure most of you know, Russia is attacking Ukraine. Gas prices are SHOOTING up through the roof. In America, we have people who already struggle with money, it may be you! So, this gass shortage and price inflation is hard on many of you. Be kind, you never know someone’s situation.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg: How much good she did for our world.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg has 2 kids. Jane and James. Her husband, Martin (Marty) was a lawyer. He got sick with testicular cancer and passed away because of it in 2010. Ginsburg did her classes and her husbands for him while he was sick. She went to Cornell University and then went to Columbia Law State University. Here's where it all began…
Ginsburg had a case. Gender discrimination. She had done a lot of planning for this. She was a little bit scared, but that is what shows how any person can do what they believe they can. Ginsburg spent a lot of her legal/law career as an advocate for gender equality and women's rights. It was her first case. Winning many arguments before the Supreme Court, she advocated as a volunteer attorney for the American civil liberties union and was a member of its board of directors and one of its general counsel in the 1970s.
She was appointed to the U.S. supreme court by retired president Bill Clinton. She always had something beautiful on her collar, she wanted it because it stands out. And so does she. (in a good way)
She was the 2nd woman EVER to be appointed to the U.S. supreme court and we should appreciate that. Her and her husband got in a fight about this case. Then he handed her some papers. She angrily read them and bursted into Marty’s office in their house and said, (not exact words but pretty close) “This shows that men are discriminated against too. This is amazing.” I thought that before I even knew who Ruth Bader Ginsbug was. Maybe men want to work at home.. We don't know, do we. But that is what RBG fights for, equal rights for women and men.
She did a lot of awesome things for our world and nobody can replace her but I hope that people, women AND men, do what she did. Be kind. It doesn't matter the gender of a person, it matters how they are inside. Her last words (well, I think) were “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.' Yet the current president may be re-elected to a fresh four-year term in November” (those were her last words in public I think)
And her last wish was that very same thing. Our current president Donald J Trump had 5 women and a man on his list. Hope it is one of those women. But that man can still do good but no one can do what she did.
Don’t let men discriminate against you. Fight for what you care about.
“Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”
She said. I read 12 more of her quotes but that one stands out to me, it reminds me to believe in what I believe in, and not to worry about being judged. That is my favorite quote by her, and my favorite quote.
Don't turn the lights off, keep them on. Don’t mourn over her death, remember all the good she did. We wouldn't be where we are right now without her. Appreciate what she did. Keep the lights on. She would want you too.
She fought for equality, you should too.
